Proud to encourage
interest in handwriting amongst young people |

This year we are running a
handwriting competition for schoolchildren who go to schools in the Kensington
and Chelsea area.
This page will be updated
with the latest news of the competition, down loadable rules and entry
forms.
The Writing Equipment Society have a deep concern at the
potential loss of writing skills by young people as keyboards dominate their
written communication. Electronic technologies are ubiquitous but
we feel that young people must maintain the ability to express themselves
efficiently in hand writing and that these skills are degrading.
Entries are invited from children in Year 6 and 7. An additional entry category
is included for young people with special needs of any age up to 15 years.
Retro 51 who are internationally known as a low volume supplier and who have
agreed to provide the prizes. Their UK Managing Director, Ian Jeffery, is
similarly committed to promoting writing skills in young people and has been
pleased to be associated with this competition. We are also working in close
co-operation with Dr Johnsons House in London EC4A 3DE which is preparing
for next years Tercentenary event and will be providing access to Johnson
artefacts at The London Writing Equipment Show. |
